Ready to explore Sylve!

The plan is to learn and play on the laptop, and then transfer to server.

Had a few false starts, mostly relating to user/group administration in Sylve (I think these are mostly/only used for Samba, which I'm not using).

I'm on 15.0-RELEASE-p9, using the quarterly repository and pkgbase, so I used 'pkg install sylve' to install.

I changed admin password in config.json, ran 'sysrc sylve_enable="YES"' and 'service sylve start'. PAM authentication is enabled by default. Initialization went smoothly, and ends with a reboot.

To my surprise, I now had another user in the SDDM login screen, called "User &". It turned out to be the Sylve admin user.

I added the following to sddm.conf:

[Users]
HideUsers=admin
HideShells=/sbin/nologin

Gone! Sylve still works
