The few remaining ones in the UK are ... well a disgrace, but on their best day nothing like that.@AnguaDelphine We are very lucky. I give the city council great credit for custom-building an amazing public library on the city's prime mid-city waterfront location. In many cities, this might have ended up being a space reserved for for-profit businesses or luxury private apartments.

@baz Yes, it has that feel about it! I've always had a suspicion that a troll lives under that bridge, so close to all the thousands of storybooks just inside the library.

@jonassmith That Black Diamond you have over there isn't too shabby. Although it's not a public library in the same sense.
