Every time a newcomer posts an introduction and somebody tells them they shouldn’t have joined Mastodon.social and need to move to a different server, an angel loses their wings.

@Sarahw @CiaraNi @bleistifterin ^^this is the way. These are the ways? Anyway yes.
@rgarner @Sarahw @bleistifterin Yes! This and these and those are the ways.

@CiaraNi @Wifiwits @DavidBridger often wondered if they pronounce it scone or scone in Scone.
@jbenjamint @Wifiwits @DavidBridger I wonder that too, now
-
@CiaraNi Yes. And frankly no one has the right to impose purity tests. It's the Socials, not a religious community. It's a bit of fun and a way to communicate.
@TerryBTwo Agreed! It should be fun, enjoyable, a nice place to hang out, not a place to be lectured
-
@jbenjamint @CiaraNi @Wifiwits I believe they pronounce it skon.
@DavidBridger @jbenjamint @CiaraNi @Wifiwits I don't know how they pronounce scone in Scone, but I do know they pronounce Scone skoon
-
@CiaraNi
I know plenty of really decent folk on .social, it's a shame if people miss out on their input because they've blocked the largest server, just because it's big.@Sarahw Same here
-
@NatureMC The Mastodon Police are quite a force

@CiaraNi The Irish half of my ancestors lived in Cork, so I'm doubly skonning.
@DavidBridger Well that explains it, that's where you have it from so. They just have to be different down there in Cork, they can't get over not being the capital
-
@jbenjamint @CiaraNi @Wifiwits I believe they pronounce it skon.
@DavidBridger @jbenjamint @Wifiwits I believe they pronounce it scone
-
@CiaraNi @bleistifterin @Primavera <kettle sold separately>
@rgarner @bleistifterin @Primavera Now it sounds like the enshittificaton of tea. Here's your can of tea, but you have to buy the boiling water separately
-
@Primavera @bleistifterin @rgarner Such a time to be alive!

@Primavera @bleistifterin @rgarner Such a time to be alive!

@DavidBridger @jbenjamint @CiaraNi @Wifiwits I don't know how they pronounce scone in Scone, but I do know they pronounce Scone skoon
@timpootle That entire sentence makes sense to me, which it probably shouldn't.
-
@hitsuyonai @NatureMC Yes indeed

@CiaraNi @Wifiwits @DavidBridger often wondered if they pronounce it scone or scone in Scone.

@CiaraNi @bleistifterin @rgarner
Tea made in the cup = milk in last
Tea poured from the pot = milk in first.@Sarahw @CiaraNi @bleistifterin @rgarner
I prefer milk in first because it dilutes the strong tannin taste.
Each to their own

@Primavera @CiaraNi @rgarner
Here is an explainer:

@monkeyben I had to look that up. I didn't know Devonshire had its own way of doing scones. I shall remember that next time I'm in Cornwall, which seems to be the rival for this.
