    @leanderlindahl

    Folketinget / parliament of Denmark

    Even worse than Sweden's. After you've clicked away the We're Tracking You! consent pop-up window, they've narrowed it down to only two social media Share buttons. Apparently, as a nation, we have chosen two preferred oligarch vendors:

    Facebook

      @leanderlindahl I'm surprised they don't have an OnlyFans.

        @leanderlindahl @CiaraNi Unfortunately, neither the French Parliament, nor the Elysée Palace, where Macron himself lives, seem to have gotten the memo 😕

          Yes! Choosing European first needs to become the norm, also in matters of social platforms!

            @CiaraNi @leanderlindahl @EUCommission Not to mention that these platforms make big money with ads from the traffic that is provided to them from official government websites. There is really no reason why. It makes the tech bros (that most people despise) even richer.

                @CiaraNi @leanderlindahl @EUCommission And for information, social media ads in developed countries where people have high purchasing power - such as Western or Northern Europe - are very expensive for the person running the ad, as there are lots of people competing for attention.

                  @leanderlindahl There is definitely a more common general awareness now of why we need to make changes. Some fresh thinking is needed by, among others, the marketing and SoMe people. Definitely.

                            @leanderlindahl @SnowyCA And they are also very greedy and exploitative towards the creators that are using them. Yes, the conscious choice is to move away from them. Easier said than done, as they benefit from a strong network effect, that disincentivize people from moving away from them. But together, we can make a difference 💪 .

                              @leanderlindahl And then, there is this argument that is used by businesses and politicians, that "we have to be on Big Tech social platforms, because it is where people are". To their credit, there is some truth to the argument. It is unfortunate, but most regular people do not put into question their social media usage, to realize to which extend a liability it is to be dependent on such platforms. To this, there is no easy remedy, but more communication from the authorities could play a role.

                                @Enea90 yes, but the "plus one" argument is harder to dismiss.

                                We who won't use surveillance capitalist media exist too. And if we organise we can grow stronger and larger as a group. They must cater to people who won't use crack cocaine (=Meta and Alphabet) or sell their personal data too.

                                I constantly pester my contacts with pointing out that I can't see what they are sharing.

                                    @CiaraNi @leanderlindahl However, Høringsportalen - the portal featuring preliminary hearing on upcoming legislation - actually provides ATOM RSS feeds for their processes:
                                    https://hoeringsportalen.dk/Syndication
                                    That is such an excellent and respectable choice.
