Like two happy places and two safe spaces in one - a garden inside a library
-
@CiaraNi lovely place. And the books are 'organized' by color! How very un-librarish.
@martijn_geerdes It's a beautiful space and place. There's a story behind the book wall (abd all the amazing architectural features and design touches) but I can't remember the details off-hand.
-
@CiaraNi Awesome! The tree fern puts it way over the top for me.
@Thorium It's the crowning touch right enough!
-
In a space like this, it's like the rest of the world isn't happening for a little while
@CiaraNi A quiet that is slower than the world outside.
-
One more angle, and now I will stop, I promise.
@CiaraNi
Libraries should be great places to be. This one is just that, wonderful. -
@CiaraNi The person in the top right window looks very comfy.
@psneeze They do! Those window seats in that room at the top are very popular, always someone lounging in them. Well spotted.
-
@CiaraNi
whooooa
@glym Agreed. It is a very whooooa place.

@sindarina Yes. Beautifully put.

@CiaraNi i want to go to there
-
@CiaraNi how very lovely. i've been told i can't have any plants inside the library i manage because it's bad for the books. sigh.
@peediewee Oh dear! I suppose in this garden, it's not in the same actual area as the books, which may make a difference.

One more angle, and now I will stop, I promise.
@CiaraNi
It's curious and really sad that I haven't seen anything like this beatiful Bibliothek - not even close - in Germany. -
@CiaraNi i want to go to there
@clarebee I love the fact that it is indeed open to everyone, access is not restricted to university students and staff or approved academics. Well worth a visit.
-
@CiaraNi What a great idea!
@NellytheWillow It's won design and architectural awards, if I recall correctly. And well-deservedly.

@CiaraNi Oh indeed! I can imagine it takes quite a lot of planning and careful tailoring of the building to the needs of the plants.
-
@CiaraNi It's beautiful.
@macpsych Agreed. It is. The space even 'feels' beautiful to be in, if that makes sense.
-
One more angle, and now I will stop, I promise.
@CiaraNi This is an awesome space. Reminds me of the stretch sofa.
-
@psneeze They do! Those window seats in that room at the top are very popular, always someone lounging in them. Well spotted.
@CiaraNi It reminds me of the café that was on the top floor of Barker & Jones bookshop in Naas. The had a mini library and some comfy seats in the window top right. It was a cool place to sit and watch the street. It closed during The Covid and never reopened.

@psneeze Oh what a pity. That's a lovely building and I can well imagine it was a great spot for lounging and looking.
