@CiaraNi You don't hoover your trousers? I suppose you don't dust and polish your t-shirts either.

@CiaraNi LOL. They're great vacuum cleaners though. I have one of the same brand which still works perfectly after 27 years.

@CiaraNi turns out that it's not "ceiling wax" at all. I did wonder what sending letters had to do with the roof!

@CiaraNi I think people who own cats might hoover their trousers.

I admire Miele for designing heavy-use products that last 20 years and more. And for which you can always still get spare parts. The only time it wobbled in two decades was a few years ago when a join in the telescopey bit broke. Without warning, it would retract into itself, suddenly becoming cartoonishly shorter as you were mid-hoover.

The privilege of living in a liveable, bikeable city. I popped the broken hoover telescope into my bike basket and pedalled to the repair café and they let me use the Grown-up Workbench in the back, well, under careful supervision, let’s be honest, they did the drilling through metal bit, but we patched it up and the hoover continues to work as it enters its third decade.

Why am I tooting about hoovering. Why did nobody stop me. I’ll stop me now. Before I say anything about that other setting for people who hoover their ears.
