I was all in support of this until I read:
"Even the reply guys will come back well-rested."
Can we send them to bed so late they don't rise until we are ready to sleep? Imagine reply guys meeting and inter reply-guying. Will they implode?
@TrueNorthSpice I'm hoping the reply guys will be well-rested in the sense 'at peace with themselves, not needing to bother the rest of us', rather than 'rested and recharged for renewed-energy reply-guying'

@CiaraNi Our national anthem is a banal dirge that's only a couple of steps up from Three Blind Mice, though. Is there a way to choose something a bit more uplifting, or at least less downdragging?
@timtfj Maybe we need a Fedi-anthem. Three Blind Mice-like anthems mightn't be that bad. Easily played on home-made tin whistles and wooden recorders hand-crafted by the brilliant makers in the Fediverse.

@CiaraNi As someone who posts at 3am I guess I'm the town drunk shouting in main street until the cops walk me out of town limits and says "go that way" out of town.
@Tock Haha - this being the community-minded Fediverse, there'll be no cops, just an instance moderator passing on their bike who stops to ask kindly if you need any help finding your way home.

A Fediverse bot that posts a GIF at 10 minutes to midnight of your server administrator saying "Time now, everybody - last toots at the bar." At 5 minutes to midnight, Eugen flashes the lights. At midnight, Mastodon plays your national anthem. You stand. You finish singing the last line with a little cheer and go to bed. Your home timeline transmits the Test Card. The Fediverse will resume transmission at 0600 hours. Even the reply guys will come back well-rested.

We also need Jack Horkheimer the Star Hustler, but unfortunately I think he died. I can still remember the Star Hustler theme music, (Debussey), just before the station would sign off the air for the night. -

@CiaraNi This, except in stead of the national anthem it's a song Eugen thinks we'll all hate & it will make us leave of our own voliton, but we all collectively decide we love whatever horror he's playing & hang around to sing along at the top of our lungs...
