This morning, I decided to head out in search of wild koalas, since my neighbour had given me a hot tip for some at Lawnton.
My first stop though, was at Bullocky Rest, as there were recent sightings.
I wandered up and down the peninsula looking at trees, not spotting any, until I stopped to check my phone at the base of a tree, then noticed there was fresh scat on the ground, looked up, and there was one with joey. I found four more at Lawnton.

#koala #AustralianWildlife #WildOzIf you happen to be out looking for Koalas, the easiest way to find them is to look for fresh scat under the tree. The scat is about 2cm long, rounded at both ends, usually with a dried out crust, and if broken open, fresh scat is a bright yellow-green inside and fibrous (it is after all, digested eucalyptus leaves).
If the inside is brown or russet, it's older scat and there's unlikely to be a koala in the tree.
