    The era of unchecked tech monopolies is over.

    We're taking decisive action to enforce open, fair, and contestable digital markets. Our measures had real consequences:

    🛡️ Fined major platforms for anti-competitive practices and ignoring consumer data choices
    ⌚ Required strict hardware interoperability for smartwatches and connected wearables
    ☁️ Launched three investigations into dominance in cloud services and into search engines hiding media

    @EUCommission Google is still silently opting people into stuff without informing us. Just opted out of personalised advertising *again*.
    No, I don't want their unannounced Discovery service. I certainly didn't want to be served ads for dating sites, FFS.

      @EUCommission

      The era of unchecked tech monopolies has only just begun, with you and #vonDerLeyen taking "decisive action" and blocking #DMA sanctions for Google.

      The sheer audacity of your bragging with such an obvious lie.

              I knew nothing about the google situation, but my gut instinct when reading this post was "LOL sure you are.".

              Guess my gut feeling was correct.

              The only decisive action you can take to stop corporate takeover is not performed with a pen and paper.
              We've moved beyond the times of strongly worded letters and punitive fines, and in to the times of civil disobedience as a public service.

                @EUCommission hum so when will you do force your own member state to allow their app to run on grapheneos for instance ?

                Because today your own member state enforce the Google / Apple monopolie, and bank do EXACTLY the same.

                    @EUCommission Decisive action? Like the one to stop the fines Google clearly needs to play? Until there's a full disclosure about von der Leyen's action here, I won't believe another thing you proclaim regarding the DMA.

                                  Stop your gaslighting.

                                  This non-statement has been widely circulated already, and it does absolutely nothing to clarify the situation. On the contrary, it's just a thin "trust us" reply, with vague weasel words that don't convey any substantial information.

                                  And no: many Europeans don't trust you.
                                  For very good reasons.

                                    @EUCommission Decisive action? Like the one to stop the fines Google clearly needs to play? Until there's a full disclosure about von der Leyen's action here, I won't believe another thing you proclaim regarding the DMA.

                                    They are even setting up formats in which the US gets a *say* on these matter.

                                    Plus, they declared war on human rights, our democratic rights, health, the climate and environment, plus treasonously collaborating with the fascistic Trump terror syndicate and their donors Thiel et al.

                                    They're lying every bit as brazenly and recklessly as Trump and Putin.

                                          Hello @brnrd!
                                          The European Commission does not block or delay cases for political reasons. When a case is technically ready and solid enough to stand in court, the Commission adopts a decision.
                                          Journalists recently asked about this at our daily press briefing, you can watch the full answer back here: https://audiovisual.ec.europa.eu/en/media/video/I-289037

                                          @EUCommission @brnrd Let's distill that:
                                          "We are not canceling the fine because it is still an active case. We do not talk about active cases."

                                          Which translates to "We canceled the fine and we won't talk about it".
