It's either decentralized with E2E and without identity verification, or it's garbage.@ki @apnoe_soeren @EUCommission @signalapp @threemaapp since when is threema a US thing? It's swiss. And yes it's not fully decentralized but it's better than many decentralized systems I've seen.

@muzicofiel @EUCommission If the EU built a chat app it would be the equivalent of WeChat, i.e. heavy surveillance and used for governmental functions and commerce.
What is Signal's plan if the EU decides to demand access? Ideally that would be "don't have nexus in Europe, and tell them if you don't like us block us." But that would put the Signal admins in jeopardy if they ever left their home countries.
