@ApostateEnglishman Brain Epstein the best Beatles manager by far!
@3dcandy I've only just noticed I mistyped "Brian".
I'm going to leave it and see if anyone else notices. 🤭

In September 1964, The Beatles were told their upcoming concert at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida, would be racially segregated. Far from bowing to pressure from promoters, John Lennon famously declared the band would "sooner lose our appearance money" than play to segregated audiences.
The promoters were forced to back down, and integrated the stadium for the concert. Brain Epstein later added an anti-segregation clause to all of the band's US concert contracts.
@ApostateEnglishman lol "Music isn't political, it never was, stop making me care!"
What cowards.

IIRC, According to the Ron Howard Documentary, Whoopie Goldberg (ST: TNG, Ghost, Sister Act) attended this concert.

One wishes Ed Sheeran would have such courage today so that he would stand up to Robert Kraft's demands for censorship.

They would have backed down to Sheeran too. If he had balls.

@Lazarou @ApostateEnglishman "[insert band name] were great before they got all political!"
[Band]: You've never actually listened to our lyrics, have you?Occasionally, their politics get worse (im looking at you, Atari Teenage Riot!), but usually, they get more left wing.

@ApostateEnglishman That's one damning lesson for Ed Sheeran...

@lambdacalculus @Lazarou @ApostateEnglishman Alec Empire took a hard right turn - pro-Zionist, anti-palestinian, promoting NFTs and crypto, stealing other people's music, including remixes, then releasing them on his label and keeping the proceeds- he slso denies ever having any Left-leanings.

@stuartb
They're like in that old German saying: "If you aren't leftist in your 20s, you have no heart. If you're still leftist in your 40s, you have no brain"
