It seems a company called IDScan is the source of more than 153 million scans of drivers' licenses. The company hasn't alerted anyone to this theft, so either they're covering it up or they don't know about it. Either way, it's bad.

@bodhipaksa #1 concern for most companies in this situation is communicating any known facts about the incident to customers *before* those customers read about it in the media. So in general, they tend to say very little until they have an official, legal-approved statement, because they're quite aware that lawsuits are likely coming.

@briankrebs You know far more about this than I do, of course, but there have been so many leaks of supposedly secure information that I'd have imagined that a company that knew they'd been compromised would be able to put together a pro forma response quite quickly. And that makes me wonder if they just didn't know.
