    Have you #DeGoogled your search? Let us know which is your favourite.

    While many alternative search engines to Google still rely on Google or Bing's search index, it's still worth making the switch.

    @Tutanota @ecosia @Qwant @kagihq @StartpageSearch @duckduckgo I'll add an interesting one to the list:
    https://uruky.com
    They have set up a private search service simliar to Kagi, but that utilises EU search engines under the hood, e.g. Mojeek and others. It is highly configurable and has quick buttons for 'fallback' engines e.g. DDG if your search requires something only they can provide.

    Every time you search with Uruky they pay the underlying search engines - boosting indie search!

          @Tutanota @ecosia @Qwant @kagihq @StartpageSearch @duckduckgo The reason why I use Kagi is visible in the 4the row: no ads

          The reason why I'd live to see the others adopt this is in the last row: it is a US service, sadly.

          So, build a European equivalent and I'll switch.

                  Nice, but not comparable.

                  It doesn't have its own index and just uses other indices.

                  But the real bummer: 18+ only.
                  Kagi has a proper family plan (which essentially makes it even cheaper), so my kids can use it as well.

                  (And I cannot really follow your thinking that Kagi is somehow supporting Russia.)

                          @rguy @roddie It is a bit of a faff to add manually to Chromium but easier in LibreWolf and easiest in Vivaldi where you add "noai" to the URLs and change the name of the default DuckDuckGo search engine (I change it to NoAI DDG).

                                @Anders_S @Tutanota @ecosia @Qwant @kagihq @StartpageSearch @duckduckgo for French searches yes, for others not so much. Some time ago it was possible to tell by using the report results button. However it seems the button is gone 😕 when it let you select individual results, they were from Qwant, if it forwarded you to Bing they were, well from Bing.

                                  @Tutanota @Mojeek is my favorite.

                                  Focuses are very great because most of the time, you know what websites you want to request.

                                  If you specifically know the website you want to browse, use the search integrated in that website if it exists (you can add shortcuts in your browser so "mdn span" redirects you on MDN website directly on the search results for "span"). If no integrated search exists, use "site:<url>" in Mojeek as you did with Google.

                                  Where Mojeek isn't good enough yet, is for relevance of searches and it is especially annonying when you don't know where you want to end up. But if you think closely, most of the time, you know. For these, use Mojeek first. There's about 50% chance you'll get your result. If you don't find just go to Duckduckgo or something else thanks to shortcuts buttons provided by Mojeek who are humble and do not think they can be satisfying 100% of the times and let you switch quickly to another search engine.

                                  Edit: if you can read French or if your translation is good enough to follow my blog article about searching information on a polluted web : https://garden.plaws.fr/rechercher-des-informations-sur-un-web-pollue

                                      @rguy @roddie It is a bit of a faff to add manually to Chromium but easier in LibreWolf and easiest in Vivaldi where you add "noai" to the URLs and change the name of the default DuckDuckGo search engine (I change it to NoAI DDG).

                                      @the_wub @rguy I just took the time to add noai.duckduckgo.com/?q=%s as a search string to Firefox on all the devices I use but would be nice if there was a more user-friendly way for people to select it

                                        While many alternative search engines to Google still rely on Google or Bing's search index, it's still worth making the switch.
