    Best cockpit announcement yet.

    After a long taxi: "Well Folks, we've driven about as far as we can. We're going to have to fly the rest of the way. Flight attendants, please take your seats."

    @13pt8plus

    Fantastic comment! And so apt, for giant hub airports.

    A few years ago, when I was headed home to San Antonio after a conference in Washington, I had to change to a connecting flight at DFW. The airport was very busy, it was a foggy night, and there was some confusion in ground traffic control. We taxied forever, it seemed, and the pilot made almost a dozen turns. He told us, "Be patient, folks. I know there must be a parking place around here somewhere!"

      @oldclumsy_nowmad Hahaha! Nice one. My comment was from Orlando, after we were rerouted due to thunderstorms, and had to wait by our gate while they reprogrammed their, "Get-Me-There Computer".

        Oh, a different context. But it is fun to hear of humorous comments by airline pilots.

          Let me pipe in too, if I may...

          Flight to Male (Maldives) in the 1980ies where the pilot, on approach, announces that it is 30°C, and sunny, and "remember, ladies and gentlemen, a sunburn is only a question of your intelligence..." 🫳 🎤

                @lobingera @13pt8plus Certainly when landing at Schiphol, it's a common question of whether we're taxiing in from Amstelveen or Halfweg (yes, there's a town literally called "halfway").

                  @13pt8plus I'm so happy that so many other folk also immediately thought of the Polderbaan at AMS. ☺️

                    @13pt8plus back in the 70s, humor columnist Art Buchwald posited that ever-increasing airport concourse lengths would eventually result in simply walking to your destination.

                      @13pt8plus I remember flying in an Aurigny Air Trislander (16 passenger, three prop aircraft) between Channel Islands in the 80s.

                      They did it terribly proper "Would passengers for flight 1 to Alderney, go to gate 1" (The door on the side of the waiting room, there was no gate 2) etc.

                      Once seated the pilot came up with, "We'll be flying at 1000ft, for a duration of approximately 15mins. Weather at the destination is much the same as here. No need to adjust your watch, unless it's broken."

                        @13pt8plus The "In flight magazine" was two sheets of A4 folded and stapled down the middle. The center spread of which was a diagram of the cockpit console naming the dials and controls etc. I wondered if this was part of the safety instructions.
