I own an actual slide rule, though I have never used it for anything serious. I bought it when I was in highschool when they were already obsolete but not yet collectable. It was at an office supply store going out of business sale, so I got an excellent deal.FWIW, it's a Pickett Log Log Decitrig, so it's a serious slide rule.

@sewblue I still have my slide rule from high school. I loathed my slide rule. I knew deep down something would replace it and when calculators came around I was in heaven. But I love the look and feel of them. Very cool tribute to your grandfather and engineers!

@sewblue hell, i learned enginnering in the early ‘70ds with a slide rule. The early calculators were banned from tests at University of Michigan.

@sewblue my father was a textile engineer. I remember him sitting at the desk using his slide rule. He would continue to use it even after calculators hit the market.
