Journalists cover (some) of the individual cases, but never even attempt to put them in context: namely, that this is by orders of magnitude the most corrupt administration in U.S. history. All trees, no forest.

@dangillmor They always bring up the Teapot Dome. Grant died in poverty. The wise ones bring up LBJ, who was a pretty dirty player, famously in politics, less famously in money/finance. Children often mention Nixon, cuz of Watergate, tho, as politicians go, he was surprisingly clean.
There is *nothing*, and I mean *nothing*, in American history to compare with this brazen "presidency as profit center" administration.

@GeePawHill @dangillmor I can’t wait for the Ken Burns documentary, because it will take many hours of footage to cover the Trump crime family.

@GeePawHill @dangillmor Nixon created the modern GOP Supreme Court majority, which has been absolutely devastating and has made the USA far more corrupt. Nixon is heavily responsible for the rise of Trump. Nixon sought Presidential Immunity, but unlike Trump did not get it from his own Supreme Court. Nixon also had far less voter backing once his corruption became public, than Trump has right now that it's known Trump already made billions. It's all about the voters.

@suzannealdrich @dangillmor Yeah, I'm thinking some kind of three season thing.

@GeePawHill @dangillmor or dare I say, Four Seasons?

@jonesmurphy @dangillmor Okay, that's a lot of sentences, and there are some I might challenge.
What I won't challenge is this: at least a third of this country is okay with this low-life motherfucker.
And that breaks my heart, as, tho we don't even really know each other, I think it breaks yours, too.

@GeePawHill @dangillmor it's worse than heartbreaking. We're heading toward racist dictatorship(what Nixon wanted) and Civil War II. That one-third or whatever is far more prepared than the 2-thirds.

@jonesmurphy @dangillmor I ask a serious and non-rhetorical question: Is it possible that you and I can be friends and allies without you agreeing with my history take or me agreeing with yours?
I would like that.
And if the answer is no, well, that's okay, we'll still be opposing the same awful people.

@GeePawHill @dangillmor it's possible, if our differences are small enough. I am a scientist, a physicist. I am a black man George Floyd's color. I have very little tolerance for the Nazi dishonesty at the core of white culture. If that's how you roll, we ain't gon be friends. We will not be opposing the same awful people. We got here because there is so much anti-black racist solidarity between too many on the US left and the right.

@jonesmurphy @dangillmor Mmmm.
Believe it or not, I think we'll get along just fine, actually.
There'll be bumps. How couldn't there be?
I'm uhhh, old, white, cis, male, grew up on welfare, but just the same privileged.
Stevie taught me a lot, when I was a young becoming radical, and as I grew, Baldwin became my greatest intellectual mentor.
I'm, don't get me wrong, a colossal fuck-up, but I think it's possible for you to overlook that.
