I didn't know the name for that long, beautifully polished wooden pole-ey boom-ey stickey-out bit on the front of the royal yacht. So I couldn't describe it properly in the Alt Text, and said so. Tak and danke and thank you to @pgogl for helping me out here. It is a called a 'sprit'. That name suits it, I think. A snappy spikey spirited sprit. That was a pleasing thing to learn.

@CiaraNi @pgogl I remember once waking up to that view on a dock in Thisted, where they had just arrived and docked on thw opposite side of the harbour.
To the topic: A „bow sprit“ is a very common English sailing term where „bow“ defines generally the front of a ship.
