They represent the oligarchy. Most politicians do.US (Canada too) need Citizens Assembly Senate.
Someone to speak for the actual community and keep it focused on what is really important to people’s lives.
Perhaps by sortition, to keep money out of it, and with a legal responsibility to accurately reflect & vote for what the local assembly agreed was priority. A responsibility of being community proxy. -

A responsibility of being community proxy.Dems that do not represent the people as they are supposed to, or withhold information to prevent the people from making informed consent, or know the harms they do, but seek to increase rather than diminish them, is abusive, treasonous, and should be held liable for all that they sacrificed for their own profit.
They should become bankrupt. All their wealth taken to fund those they chose to deny.
The should be persona non grata. Unwelcome everywhere. Their voices silent. Their POV undesired. -
