#NowPlaying Russian composers of the early 20th C who went mad for #jazz until Stalin decided that valved trumpets & vibrato were perverse. He banned jazz (incl. the word itself) for being bourgeois, and arrested musicians & audience members, while, paradoxically, continuing to fund it.
