Do you want to make your own Mastodon server? It's much easier and cheaper than you think, there are three ways to do it:
NON-TECHY - A "managed hosting" company does all the techy stuff for you behind the scenes. Starts from 5 to 10 euros per month all inclusive.
SLIGHTLY TECHY - Services like @yunohost provide a graphical interface for VPSs & home servers.
VERY TECHY - Manually installing using the official documentation and command lines.

@gytisrepecka @FediTips I'm trying to understand the details of how Mastodon and GoToSocial interact. Is this account you posted from your GtS account? What app do you use? How's do you find Mastodon content?

You can use GTS with Mastodon apps, and you follow, interact and discover accounts just like you would with a Mastodon account.
