    @jack_daniel

In reality, you need four keys, ctr+c, ctr+v, switch window combo key, and Enter.

And yes, I made this with help from AI, and Yes, I use it every day.

@gray17 yes, that's where I got the image-
Because Control/Command C/V (and X for power users) are so tedious.

Honestly if you put those buttons on a mouse I'd use them extensively just to avoid the right click context windows.

        I could not resist:

Give me a thorough explanation of the virtues of copy pasting.

        ChatGPT:

Copy-pasting is one of those everyday actions that seems trivial until you imagine working without it. It's often associated with shortcuts or even plagiarism, but as a tool, it's neither good nor bad—it simply allows information to be transferred efficiently. Used thoughtfully, it has a surprising number of virtues.

        1. It saves time

The most obvious advantage is speed. Recreating text, code, numbers, or formatting manually is often unnecessary work. Copy-pasting lets people focus on higher-value tasks instead of repetitive typing.
        For example:

        • Reusing an email signature.
        • Moving data between spreadsheets. […]

I’m going to spare everyone the 12(!) other points it was making. May its GPUs all burn out and its power supply be cut by angry neighbours.

I just want to add what I think is a too often ignored advantage of using copy-paste rather than manually typing the text again. Using copy-paste will significantly reduce the risk of introducing typos into the text you are copying.

I know my opinion on this might not be given much weight, after all I am just a human and humans are fallible.

No-no-no, it doesn't have to be an "AI era" product. I think it could be invented a decade earlier, when StackOverflow was a popular place to copy code from

I read the joke as “people who use genAI copy-paste responses, instead of thinking themselves”.

I don’t think it was meant as a general statement about copy pasting, but I could be wrong.

Anyone who writes code, knows that copy & paste has always been used all the time.

@jack_daniel the real AI era product, is a 'Y' keyboard (they just accept what claude code gives them)

@kasperd @avuko agree! I use copy (or cut*) and paste all the time.

*Except in Excel, *cut* and paste in Excel often does unpleasant things. But, Excel, so unpleasant is expected.
