A house should only cost 4 cars, and a car should cost 1000 sandwiches

A house should only cost 4 cars, and a car should cost 1000 sandwiches
Are the sandwiches the size of 2000 ladybugs?
-
A house should only cost 4 cars, and a car should cost 1000 sandwiches
@donni how many bananas should a pair of socks cost?
A range rover is about $250,000 here and houses are $800,000 to $1,000000 for the most part, so we have that bit down. But $250 for a sandwich doesn’t work. OK.
So let’s live in a cardboard box under a bridge, zero dollars, and steal a car (zero dollars and comes with free sandwiches for four years).
-
And a sandwich should be 50p. Maybe 75p for a really fancy one, like they used to be when I was young and had hope.
The real question is "how much should a freddo" be?
@CrypticMirror @donni a Freddo should be 10p like nature intended.
-
@donni depending on the house, the car, and the sandwich, that can be true.
I can probably find a somewhat local place that have fancy sandwiches at 100dkk, i can get a fairly nice used car for 100,000dkk and the house I am about to buy (renting it for now) is 350,000dkk. It is in the middle of nowhere and old, but still a house.
The location is why I need the car to get the sandwiches.
@s_d_brath @donni minimum flat costs 20+ minimum cars, which cost 2000+ minimal sandwiches. And a minimal flat basically doesn't exist in many localities around the developed world.

@donni Now I want a national currency pegged on sandwiches.
-
A house should only cost 4 cars, and a car should cost 1000 sandwiches
@donni the car to sandwich factor is roughly correct in London
-
iirc, in the 90s you could still very much sell great sandwiches for around $5, get a decent $5000 car, and buy a simple flat for $50,000 outright (using a USD equivalent).
And that's a pricey sandwich!
-
A house should only cost 4 cars, and a car should cost 1000 sandwiches
@donni Institutional investors should be able to set the price of sandwiches through the interloafing rate.
-
A house should only cost 4 cars, and a car should cost 1000 sandwiches
@donni Car Dealership: [scribbling furiously] Forty dollar burger stand... this is going to be huge
-
A house should only cost 4 cars, and a car should cost 1000 sandwiches
@donni My reality, make my own sandwiches. Car 5 years old £15k. Modest 2½ bedroom semi-detached house £350k in a small, unfashionable town in Central Beds.
-
A house should only cost 4 cars, and a car should cost 1000 sandwiches
@donni Can you measure this in units of a large boulder the size of a small boulder? I mean in a Marxist sense.
-
@donni and a sandwich should only cost ~10 minutes of minimum wage, after taxes.
@keithpjolley @donni so a car needs to be less than 10,000 minutes of labour.
Which might be hard.
-
@donni Unfortunately one way to bring this about is to make sandwiches and cars really expensive

@LovesTha @keithpjolley @donni I can get you a beater car that just passed inspection. Used to belong to an old lady

@donni "What do you mean the car costs 100,000 and the sandwich costs 100?"
-

@donni
That's a lot of bread.@wannabemystiker @donni And a fair bit of dough too!
-
A house should only cost 4 cars, and a car should cost 1000 sandwiches
@donni back in 1970 new cars were around $3k, houses were ~$17k, and burgers were something under 30 cents. Pretty close?
People like me who are Gen Xers may inherit some of those houses just in time to tear them down, but everyone else later than us are pretty screwed.
I also remember working for an hour at minimum wage in order to afford a fast food meal, and that is probably still the case in most places, unfortunately. -
A house should only cost 4 cars, and a car should cost 1000 sandwiches
@donni nah, cars should be expensive AF and unobtainable to the masses. More expensive than a home.
