Yeah, I have never really cared about the platform so maybe I'm too easily amazed by whatever sociological phenomenon is going on there. But some real people are still on there among the bots and trolls, and I profoundly wonder what has happened to their brains to make them tolerate being on a site like this.
@theoneisrightlad @libreoffice@sab @theoneisrightlad @libreoffice
it's more difficult for bots to spread here, because you don't see in the home timeline the posts of accounts that you don't follow.
and people tend to avoid to follow bots. -
@mausmalone @libreoffice Different people need different things from the interface, I am sure. But surely there are more and less popular functions.
For the crowdfunding we can do a survey.
Already under the file menu. "Open Remote... " Why would I want to open a remote file? From where, when, how? I just want to write. Strike it, it is confusing. "Wizards... Fax" What? A time machine? "Wizards... Agenda" That is something else!
The list of crap that can be wielded is endless...
@rrustema @libreoffice Might I recommend switching to Groupedbar Compact, then? It pulls the most popular features up as icons, but still provides drop-down menus if you need something more obscure.
Instead of "Open Remote" and "Wizards" or "Templates" you just get 3 buttons: Open, Save, Print.

@mausmalone @libreoffice That's interesting. I found it under 'View'. After opening a document.
But in the end it is the presence of features I haven't used the past years that is confusing, distracting.
Personalisation is a big thing when it results in more shopping on the internet. Everything is about personalisation then.
But a word processor that just hides features I have never used the pas 15 years, that kind of personalisation did not appear yet.

@libreoffice @nateb Excellent decision LibreOffice!

-
@mcbaumwolle @Schimmelreiter @libreoffice not used by anyone, but this post on fediverse has more comments, more retoot and more likes than the one on Xitter, where the account has twice as many followers
@zii_0 @Schimmelreiter @libreoffice I literally tell this about who asks me anything about #fedi because the actual interaction rate here seems so much better and more human.

@stefan that is all fair, and I certainly support having empathy, assuming good faith, etc. The meaning of my comments are essentially that in my honest opinion Mastodon doesn't have a significantly higher barrier to entry or steeper learning curve than other 'social media' platforms. Additionally, read through the comments on @libreoffice X post and it's hard to avoid the conclusion that there is quite a bit of bad faith / trolling going on in addition to genuine preference for X over Mastodon
@SciPolTech @stefan @libreoffice there may be some usability problems going on like "I kept getting banned for trolling and abuse" or "I joined a Nazi instance but nobody else can see my posts."

Then let's break the barrier of 80.000 followers here

@libreoffice you guys should also push for people to follow your #blog using #RSS for those that dont like using social media but still want to keep up with things in another way
@GlitchGhost @libreoffice nobody tell them that any Mastodon account also is a #RSS feed... So even if you don't like the social media aspects you can follow accounts using your favorite feed reader.
