The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot
A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead:
@ketan this is so shameless, seems almost like a parody

@ketan but, just to be sure: is this a real add by Microsoft?
Or satire by someone else?
We live in times were those two can't be separated anymore...

Well, it's Microsoft, isn't it?

@ketan It’s so revealing that every office-work AI ad seems to endorse the worst asshole behavior in people. Utter neglect, then taking credit for someone else’s work, then bullshitting your way through, all while not caring about the work product, all for the grand goal of making an extra dollar or winning corporate praise…just the worst aspects of humanity.
@drahardja Yeah, Apple Intelligence ads were exactly like that too. "Oops I forgot to read the presentation my colleagues put effort into, I'll ask my Mac to extract three key points to pretend I've read it, I'm such a good person"
-
@ketan
Beside the embarrassing and cringeworthy aspects. It also shows exactly how not to use an "ai assistant".
That's like throwing dice on that rather mediocre Copilot thingy.

@ketan you've summed up contemporary culture with one synopsis.

You've just opened up an eloquent description of AI and its users as
*wanker clankers* and *clanker wankers*
SI wanker: So *not* super intelligence?
Me: *So* not super intelligence!Sorry “#Sports Illustrated”, #SI now stands for #SuperIdiot.

It is truly tragic that we have reached the point where we see something like this, and we can't tell if its parody or Microsoft just taking the mask completely off.

@ketan Yes, Copilot sucks, but where in the ad does he ask it to copy his coworker's work? All I saw was a vague "make mine beautiful".

“Wanker clankers
