    I worked for one the biggest Advertising agencies in the world for almost a decade. Ad-Blockers were installed on everyone's work computers by default, the entire time.

        @fesshole

        My work computer used to have #uBlockOrigin preinstalled. Now there's no ad-blocker and I can't get into the browser settings page to install one Because Security™️.

          @shadowwwind @fesshole In software development there's the concept that you should, "eat your own dog food."

          I imagine in marketing it's more like, "don't swallow your own shit."

          edit: I suppose we should all follow that one too.

            Does security prevent USB drives? You could always do a portable web browser with uBlock Origin installed if they do.

                That's sweet. Which distro of Linux are you running in it? And the security allows for Linux programs to be installed? That's definitely a solution!

                  @fesshole I met my former classmate about 12 -13 years ago for a beer and he was developer for the biggest add-tech company in the country - asked “how does it feel to be in the heart of darkness”… he did not understood the question;)

                          @fesshole At previous jobs (as a web developer), it took me 6 months before learning we had ads on the website maintained by my team.

                          One day someone asked the team to change the script related to ads. That’s how I learned about it. I was shocked.

                                I use #Fedora — same as at home. 🙂

                                But #WSL seems to have a bug. Unlike the case where you run it on Fedora on bare metal or in a conventional VM, certain elements don't render properly, and so I've found i have to set an environment variable to disable the use of Wayland.
