Guess what I learned today?
At exactly 7:24 in the morning, the sunlight this time of year is at an angle such that it streams across a chimney roof some distance away and casts this shadow on my window.
🪟My third story window.
Please imagine the level at which my brain is (or is not) functioning at 7:24 in the morning. Then imagine my reaction.
Fortunately, this did NOT result in a load of buckshot being blasted through these mini blinds and in the general direction of a building 20 yards away.

@deviantollam My head went straight to this classic Gary Larson cartoon: https://www.facebook.com/yourcomicfun/posts/the-far-side-by-gary-larson-comicbook-thefarside-garylarson-farsidecomics-farsid/465147259438942/

@deviantollam I managed a movie theater before finished college. Had one display, cardboard person, that when lights were on didn't trigger reflexes at all. But every night when I was closing place and lights were off kept making me jump thinking someone had broke in. Got rid of that display weeks earlier than was supposed to.

@deviantollam It's when the shadow disappears and that door to the left creaks open that I'd really lose my bowel contents.

@deviantollam I thought I'd spilt some white paint on my staircase and was having a real problem cleaning it off when I realised it was the sun shining thru a window and then thru the stair railing that was making the carpet brighter

@deviantollam omg! I would have freaked out! That is truly amazing, and I might have called the police.
I have a big frosted window over my tub. It has that weird magnification effect if anything is backlit, like if a bird flies by, it looks like a pterodactyl flying by. I had forgotten about that when it snowed one year. Each falling snowflake appeared massive, and in different colors. It was actually marvelous, once I did a double take.

@deviantollam I was permanently scarred a couple decades ago when early morning sunlight across the expressway outside my kitchen window filled the living room of my apartment with flickering orange light (flicker due to traffic). I still remember my "ohshitfire!" response.
I think there were only a few days a year where the angle for the sun, highway, window and passthrough from the kitchen to living room lined up correctly and I usually wasn't up that early.

@deviantollam with an Arduino, some motors and some plastic you can make this happen all year long
