@lonelyboy1977 if your feed is very quiet, it sounds like you might not be following the hashtags you mentioned. You can follow hashtags! You'll see loads of related toots, and find your online kindred souls that way.
@timsk Yeah, the main lesson I've learned from all the responses I've recieved is the importance of following hashtags, so I am now following several that are of interest to me.

@mboelen Thanks to the multiple responses suggesting that I do so, I am now following several hashtags of interest, and it's already making a noticeable difference.

@lonelyboy1977 The next level then is to finetune by muting those using those hashtags which you tend to skip over (or muting certain content/hashtags like "operating system xyz"). I like to follow some news sources but hate their obsession with every hickup on the stock market so I can finetune there

@camless This is the most frequently given advice I've been given so I have started following hashtags related to subjects I want to see more of in my home feed.
@lonelyboy1977 @camless Ian, I agree with others that using the results of hashtags to find people you want to follow will probably give you the best results. I’ve used that approach over the years to get to where I have a useful home feed.
(Ironically my home feed now has *too much* info at times and so I find myself using feeds for hashtags I follow when I want to focus on a topic.)
P.S. You are welcome to follow me, but I don’t post on your topics all that often.
