I still have VGA cables. Civilizations have risen and fallen since they were last useful, but somehow they remain under my desk, quietly waiting for history to repeat itself.

@masek I have loads of VGA cables, as the VGA port ist the best and most common connector for analogue video. I even sell selfmade adapters from VGA to SCART, S-Video and Composite. Retrogamers love them.

@masek Yup. That explains two full boxes of adapters and power cords that I cannot bring myself to throw out or bring to Staples for recycling or whatever.

@masek The problem is, every now and then I _do_ find a use for one. And the countdown to a cable purge is once again reset at ~6,300,000 seconds and counting.
I don't think I have ever seen that countdown hit zero.

@masek I had to borrow one such cable last year. Eventually I bought a VGA just so I can use HDMI instead.

@masek I guess it would fall under hoarding disorder, but it would a pretty mild and harmless version of that

@masek Generally, it's hoarding. It could also be a special case of sunken-costs fallacy; as in, "I've hold to this cable for so long that I cannot simply stop now".

It should sound more Latin. Otherwise someone could have the impression we are just concatenating words.

Oh yes. I have enough cables to make a museum at home. ADSL cables, for example.
