I don’t need ChatGPT.

@skinnylatte yesterday I said "I need an easy, I mean easy way to make flowcharts" and I have like a dozen mentions.
Now I'm curious, but I couldn't find it by quickly looking up in your profile.

I don’t need ChatGPT. I just have to post on Mastodon ‘I don’t know this thing’ and all of my autistic acquaintances converge here to explain things to me
@skinnylatte it's the best!

@skinnylatte This is so damn true! Hahah.
Tech, cooking, sewing, legal stuff, writing, pretty much anything. We have a bottomless wealth of human knowledge here - which comes with a sense of responsibility. Something AI doesn't have.

And, unlike ChatGPT, their replies are correct. And come with a lot of accurate citations.

@skinnylatte I wish it was like that for me! Last week I posted a question about making a bot and no one answered. I included relevant hashtags even.

@skinnylatte I highly recommend asking Mastodon if you're a #Linux noob like me. Online forums are really mean to noobs, and it's hard to just get a damned answer to your question there. People on here are way nicer and more helpful.

@RachelThornSub @skinnylatte Honestly, it depends. One of the reasons why I love BSD and #Gentoo is that the BSD and Gentoo communities are *very* inviting and there are (almost) no questions considered "too dumb".

And if someone hallucinates bullshit into your replies, there are at least other people who'll know that it's bullshit and tell you that. -

@jaBote @skinnylatte most of my toots are followers only. I was recommended draw.io, excalidraw.com and PowerPoint

@skinnylatte @qgustavor
That sometimes happened to me, too.
It often helps to try again by boosting my own post. Don't be ashamed to boost yourself!(I looked for that post on your profile to boost it, but couldn't find it.)

@RachelThornSub@famichiki.jp @skinnylatte@hachyderm.io out of curiosity, what forums do you mean? the ones i used/use were quite civil (usually)

@skinnylatte I just did this for a very specific question in a lounge slack channel at work and now I have answers, new questions answered and a couple of people I get to know more. Asking actual people is the best thing ever
-
@skinnylatte I am two for two on asking for tech help I couldn't find via web searching and getting the correct answer *within two minutes.* It's amazing.
@cwicseolfor @skinnylatte
Three for three here, cwicseolfor.

@skinnylatte I would take a 2 decades old Google search over today's "latest and greatest" ChatGPT session.
