Maybe the #bahnbubble can help out my curiosity: did any train ever went over the edge here?

Just spend ten minutes getting a ticket. Contactless via phone: works a bit.. then fails. Card: works a bit.. then something about fraud (deal with that later). So my emergency ten physical euro it is.

Despite the base of the system being a 100yrs old the acceleration of the modern vehicles is FAST. Comfort of entry and exit is excellent despite it being very busy.

Good value! 24hours for just riding the Dangletrain or does that cover other lines too?@cazmockett Dangletrain + all busses in "zone A". I think that's a rather large area of basically the entire dangletrain route + a couple km city on either side.
I will not enter any busses though. It's dangletrain all the way (and back again).

@Pepijn I always was of the opinion that monorails aren't just another category of "gadgetbahn", despite some people insisting that they are.
The Schwebebahn is basically an upside down tram which happens to function well in it's specific environment.
"But what if it breaks down and people have to get off?! Impossible!!" The exact same goes for every cable car in the world -- and there are plenty of those.

@Pepijn My wife is from Wuppertal. When we had just met, she explained me the Schwebebahn but somehow the "cabin hanging over the river" became something entirely different in my mind (see picture). So you can image my surprise when we finally visited Wuppertal...

@Pepijn Ohhh, I didn't know they had one train that doesn't have the light blue livery, but one that's obviously a hommage to the livery of the previous trains!

@geeeero Yup. Literally one out of the 35 or so they have (as I was told by the shopkeeper of the model train shop who was trying to 'upsell' me to the one he thinks is prettier).

Wuppertal is kinda surprising in how interesting it is. Admittedly I knew only one thing about it before coming here and not even checked Wikipedia while in the train.
Besides the excellent rollercoaster, ICE connection and fancy bus-station the town is a typical car-first German town. Non-car-first places here are "dedicated specials" (see photos).
Also as a Dutch person living in Denmark I had -again- forgotten that cities can have vertical distance as well..
