@davidgerard "dark creative themes" is such a wiggle term. Like they want to allow BSDM scenarios with the digital waifu but don't want people setting up LLM torture porn websites with their bot. But setting up a bunch of LLMs outputting text like they were characters in a SAW film reacting to Jigsaw torturing them is "dark creative output"

I disagree that this is mainly about marketing. I think it's mainly that these weirdos really think they're building digital people. Marketing is secondary

Two theories about this: this is Anthropic's extremely pathetic response to being owned by the Pope in both English and Latin simultaneously, or somehow it's just effective altruism again. Actually it's probably option three: both.
