Between the last German elections and the impact of the Trump policies, I don't know how to write about things happening without sounding absolutely despairing on this world.

So I will not. I can't add anything that hasn't already been said.

Because what we need now is hope (the kind of hope that makes you fight, not wait) and ideas, ideas for (small) things to do. And beauty and fun, to replenish.

And because I can't deliver of the first two, I'll try for the later.

@vicgrinberg Thank you for this productive silence.
I have problems with so many posts today in the tone ' I already told you' or playing the angry echo chamber for fascists' quotes.

Instead of pure automatic reaction, we need more thoughtful action. We can become an echo chamber for the resisters, the people working for democracy, the 'good ones'.

@NatureMC yeah, I get why people need to get things out of their systems, but I realized I am hesitant to read and this is not what I need myself and that I truly feel it's just a doom spiral. Can't get even deeper into one, totally not productive.

        @vicgrinberg

        #vote

        especially you american assholes

#fascism doesn't want you to vote

and, in your mindless #cynicism and loser #perfectionism, you give them exactly what they want

        why?

        fucking pathetic

of course you don't *only* vote

because this is a war, and a vote is just one small tactic on one small battlefield

but to ignore something so easy is just unfathomably stupid

because you think a vote is some holy thing that reflects on your soul?

        😂

        that's SO DUMB

        it's just tactics

            you've encountered a reply guy

            me

you had a nice post and i hijacked it

i was completely aware of the faux pas before i did so

            i did it anyway

            i do not fucking care

            because i'm angry as hell

anger is as important as hope, and is not mutually exclusive

positivity and hope alone will not beat fascism

people need to get fucking angry

i assert that as a message just as important as your own

@su_liam yeah, and also a lot of the anger and rage seems to me right (in the special German situation) just to result in a doom spiral. I don't want to contribute to this or to be pulled into it.

@vicgrinberg I think that you don't need hope to fight
It's better to have hope, certainly, and it's not bad to find hope
You can fight in despair, and even when you don't have any chance
But I wasn't thinking about that
You can also fight if you have no hope no despair, you don't know what will happen, but you choose to go on anyway. Because that's the right thing to do. And because that's the way you are. And that's your life
So, you're right, but maybe we are not able to fight anymore

I think we are talking about different things - there certainly is fighting even without hope for some. But this does not mean that we, as a society, do not need the kind of hope (or however one can call it) that makes one stand up and fight right now (I'm also not sure you are familiar with German politics that triggered that post and very much defines the "we" in this context).

Sure, you're angry. There's a lot to be angry about. But you won't achieve anything if you just spread that anger around at random. You need to identify a target and focus your anger on that.

@vicgrinberg it's better to have hope than not, I agree
And it's better to fight with hope than rage or fear, they make you fight too, but often with no clear thinking and regrets
But what we need more (I think) is to work and fight if needed with no need of heroes, no need of great hope
Because that'd mean a more civilized society. Maybe stubborn, but we'd have continuous work for the right things, not a reaction, every day

@benroyce @vicgrinberg OK, so here's another reply guy. I don't normally, but I'll make an exception here.

Sure, you're angry. There's a lot to be angry about. But you won't achieve anything if you just spread that anger around at random. You need to identify a target and focus your anger on that.

@tokensane no need to engage, he has clearly shown that his main interests is screaming and rage-baiting, I just want my ppl to be warned about him.

i think that people who are not angry are the problem. and i will target them

                                  i despise "polite society"

i consider "polite society" to be part of the problem

"polite society" will sit and smile while the most vile lie is said serenely. because it's polite

then clutch their pearls in horror when someone says "fuck you!" appropriately in response

                                  this helps #fascism

                                  fuck polite society

fuck everyone who is more concerned with decorum than the stakes we are facing

                                  @tokensane @vicgrinberg

finally this is an open public social media forum

people introduce topics and discuss them

this is not an intimate conversation

if it were, i would be wrong

but it isn't, so i'm not

in fact i consider it rather controlling to treat a public comment as if it were wrong on the basis of the lie that it should abide by the standards of a private conversation between friends

there's no friends here, that's for damn sure

                                    good

                                    keep up the warning

maybe more people will see the thread and how much you don't get the stakes here

hope is important. hope is right

hope is not mutually exclusive with anger

fascism is rising in europe. i am a warning from the usa

                                    you don't like anger?

then you're not going to defeat fascism

and if you try to change the topic from the one you introduced to a controlling desire to tone police, that's just more demonstration you don't get the stakes

There are 2 sentences, that might help you (or not), that actually have the same meaning.

"„Wenn ich wüsste, dass morgen die Welt unterginge, würde ich heute noch ein Apfelbäumchen pflanzen.“"

                                      "Keep Calm and Carry On"
                                      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keep_Calm_and_Carry_On

Both originated during the 2.nd World War, one on the german side, the other on the british.
