@GOKUSHRM Depends on the latitude of where you live, the insulation of the house, the efficiency of your heating/cooling, whitegoods etc etc. Numerous calculations need to be done above the simple area of the house. We're in SE Australia at 34°S where there's lots of annual sunshine and high efficiency rev cycle heat/aircon, heat pump water heat, recent high efficiency whitegoods and so on. We use a lot of power, about 23kWh/day on avg. @pomubieng @VoquiLeibbrandt @jensorensen

@GOKUSHRM You might need more than 1 panel to live the dream, but I wholly endorse a big effin solar array (ours is 10.5kW), 40.5kWh of batteries and induction cooking. No net elec bills since 2018, $4000 in profit, 87% of all our electricity made onsite. @pomubieng @VoquiLeibbrandt @jensorensen

There is not enough lithium for so many batteries@ana Incorrect. Lots of renewable energy haters try to leverage this myth. Not only is there enough lithium (it's not particularly rare, there's more lithium on the planet than lead, tin & silver), it's 100% recyclable and there's more types of rechargeable batteries than just lithium based. @VoquiLeibbrandt @jensorensen

U can say full year sun ️ on head@GOKUSHRM 10kW PV might be enough, for your application, but PV is so cheap that you should cover as much roof area with PV as you can. Batteries have become much cheaper of late, too. Start with your annual kWh consumption and work your way up from there. @pomubieng @VoquiLeibbrandt @jensorensen

@GOKUSHRM I would be incorporating solar & batteries during the construction. Much better than retrofitting. There's enough resources around for you to estimate your power needs and build to suit. @pomubieng @VoquiLeibbrandt @jensorensen

@GOKUSHRM Get at least 3 quotes on your job before proceeding, avoid the very cheapest particularly if you're being quoted on small, new company mfrs of battery/inverter equipment. Important for your mfr to be around long enough to provide service through the warranty periods. We chose top-tier mfrs even though it cost more. LG has even left PV mfg but LG is a behemoth and will most likely be around for the next 30 years for any warranty claims @pomubieng @VoquiLeibbrandt @jensorensen
