"America has blown 80 years of accumulated goodwill and trust among its allies, our American moderator was told […] America’s recent actions have destroyed the ability of any ally to continue to have faith in America to act even within its own strategic self-interest, let alone that of any ally"

This is such a good quote.
The strategic interest of soft power is lost on the current US-administration and without absolute safeguards against this kind of malign stupidity the US will never be trustworthy again.

@SuneAuken @Remittancegirl "absent safeguards"?

@SuneAuken @Remittancegirl "absent safeguards"?
@joelvanderwerf @Remittancegirl
TY. I missed a word.
I meant to write "without absolute safeguards".
I have corrected.
Much obliged.

@Remittancegirl I assume many of us in the U.S. #natsec community have understood this since the election a year ago. It's over. With the finality of being hit by a train, it was over at that moment. No allied nation should have continued sharing intelligence, I said so at the time. A MAGA America at the least can't be trusted, and at worst is an outright enemy of everything and everyone the country once stood for. It's sad that Congress members and others are so deluded as to think things might magically go back to "normal" when Trump is gone. Because what we proved is that it's not just Trump. It's Americans who are so depraved to have made this happen, it's their character at issue. No of course no one will trust America again. Because they're not stupid.

@Nonya_Bidniss @Remittancegirl Nail on head! Even if a new President is the most reasonable human on Earth, no-one will trust the USA as an "ally" again because there are 77 million deranged Americans who could easily elect another batshit crazy leader in the future.
The USA's international prestige and soft power have been permanently destroyed.
