The people flying over will also go on vacation in any authoritarian country elsewhere, because beaches and cheap drinks like the ones visiting Socotra that got stuck on the island. At least half of the people is more stupid than the median

@benroyce As exciting as this is, the rest of the article makes it sound like FIFA’s bottom line isn’t being damaged. Actual purchased tickets can’t be cancelled, and the demand for them hasn’t gone down.
FIFA is a global organization with millions who wanna watch their games; I’m worried 17K might end up just being a drop in the bucket.

At least half of the people is more stupid than the median @benroyce That’s the reason for any cut in education anywhere. „panem et circensis“, keep them stupid and with cheap beer and gas and you can get away with basically anything. Before voting comes education and learning to think on your own.
Unpopular opinion: people voting left just because they have been told to aren’t better, they’re just as gullible. -

Alternatively, the Trump Olympics will be tightly staged-managed. All the usual competitors will be welcome, but there'll be restrictions on what you can say and where you can go, and bad things will happen to countries and competitors who don't toe the line both inside and outside the competition. Countries who boycott the games will be hit with tariffs or worse. It'll be the most expensive and least tasteful Olympics of all time.

Given that it's a joint Mexico/USA/Canada hosting situation, I wonder if FIFA have contingency plans to move the USA matches to Mexico and Canada
