@davidrevoy Speaks a lot about "anti-AI" hysteria.
These people don't need art. They need an enemy to vent their frustration on.If only we could simply appreciate art based on whether we like it, no matter who created it.
@skobkin @davidrevoy oh no the AI hatred is TOTALLY justified.
GenAI is lazy and ruining our livelihoods - I stopped creating my watercolours because I thought what is the point? I am feeding a machine without payment, I am not getitng royalties for the folks who created stuff on Midjourney and Stable Diffusion trained off my landscapes.
And it does matter how it's created. If it's created by stealing all our work - and yes my work like David's is in the training models, then it's bad and parasitic.
And terrible for the planet...all that water in a drought for the data centres...ugh.

@faoluin Yes, that's what I'm trying to do. Thank you. But on bad evenings, you know... It's tempting to allow some of my self-destructive thoughts to be confirmed by these, and reading them all became hypnotising. I'll try to develop a thicker skin. Maybe that's just the negative side of attracting a larger audience for my work.
@davidrevoy @faoluin even bot comments aside, just the other day Evan Dahm was posting on bsky about how he was suddenly getting this big influx of really shitty (all cusses in this post are mine) comments on Meta platforms for a recent update to his serial - just lots of people who
(a) are not shown *anything* from the comic, following or not, because of arbitrary algo bullshit, until all of a sudden they are
(b) thereby have no context whatsoever about what they're looking at
(c) but nonetheless feel completely entitled to make judgment about the thing without taking any effort to seek out that obviously missing context that had not been spoonfed to them
it's pretty demoralizing all around and it just further validates my decision never to go near any Meta product again -

Don't be too harsh. That's exactly what metas platforms are designed to do: Keep you scrolling for as long as possible. And the "best" (well, for them) way to do that is using negative emotions.

Suddenly, it reminds me of Clarice Lispector's text "The smallest woman in the world", published in her "Family ties". This short story tell how readers of a newspaper reacted to a full page of a pygmy woman found in Equatorial Africa.

Je connaissais le travail de @davidrevoy avant que l'IA générative ne se démocratise, donc il doit être réel, même si je ne l'ai jamais rencontré physiquement.
Mais ça devient compliqué, le dicton "Il faut le voir pour le croire." ne marche vraiment plus.

@davidrevoy Now for the big question: how many of these questions are sincere, and how many come from AI troll-bots? Because Silicon Valley has a vested interest in making sure nobody can distinguish slop from reality.
@artair @davidrevoy sadly, I think there is a lot of those bad-faith accusations of art being AI generated. It must be incredibly frustrating to have to deal with that.

@davidrevoy While it hasn't happened to me as much (in part because I only post here really and am not as well known or popular of an artist), it is devastating every time someone makes that accusation.
I find that the people making accusations usually just have a feeling, and then pile on the confirmation bias as they search for reasons in the art itself to justify their feeling.
Keep doing what you do. It's invaluable. Even if there are those who can't be bothered to do the research, having real art made by real artists is so important right now.

@davidrevoy My "favorite" is the one obviously unhappy about the fact that AI stole *your* style, getting a reply that assumes you stupidly sold out, as if the AI companies would bother paying for anything. Like, come on, dude.

It's happening to lots of writers. Some forums are nothing but people claiming they put writing through an "AI detector" and the writing is obviously AI. It's soul-crushing, as you well know.The other major group of people getting hit by this, ironically, are computer programmers. People who actually know how to code are being told their code is AI generated even when it's absolutely obvious it's not.
Anyone who creates is damaged by AI - even if they don't use it.

@davidrevoy Vraiment désolé de lire ça. Ça doit être dur à encaisser des commentaires comme ça. Non seulement, ça remet en cause la légitimité du travail et en plus les détectives en herbe en profitent b pour pointer de potentiels défauts de manière assez virulente.
J’espère qu’ils ne représentent que quelques gouttes d’eau saumâtre dans un océan de compliments bien mérités.

@Sylvhem se poser la question c'est une chose mais si vraiment tu t'interroges un passage sur le profil de l'artiste et un peu de recherches suffisent à prouver que c'est pas le cas. Et même c'est quand même assez violent de choisir d'aller attaquer un artiste en lui affirmant que c'est de l'IA sur la base de trucs claqués au sol genre les incohérences (le jour où ces gens voient mes planches leur cerveau va sauter)
Mais bon c'est peut-être moi qui le prend un peu vivement faut dire que l'effet de groupe d'avoir tous les commentaires d'un coup aide pas…
