Switch to Linux today!@nixCraft to answer his question in the first paragraph: my first computer was an IBM compatible with an 80286 CPU, 1mb of RAM, a 5.25" floppy and before it became mine the addition of 20MB hard drive. It had only CGA graphics and a CGA monitor which displayed magenta as amber and cyan as grey.
This was in 1987 .. It was the computer I learned LOGO on and later taught myself basic on.
I remember the specs of my first PC 39 years later.
