It occurred to me this morning that it has now been over a decade in which we have all been forced to hear something about Donald Trump every fucking day - often many times a day.

@Remittancegirl the thought that scares me a bit is that this might very well not be the last time that social media catapulted someone this unqualified to such a consequential position
@mkoek @Remittancegirl
My "STOP MAKING STUPID PEOPLE FAMOUS" t-shirt has people asking stupid questions. -

There are people in journalism who have no experience of a world in which we actually covered many different topics in a day.
I feel like I've been mentally force fed McDonalds for ten years non-stop.
I would like it to be over before I die, please.
@Remittancegirl not only heard trumpery but heard patently deranged gibberish reported as if the president of the US didn’t also happen to be the most delusional, corrupt imbecile ever to hold office and it was all perfectly normal and rational
Never a challenge, never editorialising to make it clear the man is lying nor - as you suggest - never any ignoring of rambling moron who never says anything worth reporting other than as evidence of the need to have removed him from office

@Remittancegirl it's really time someone Luigi'd that guy
-
@Remittancegirl Same. I live for the day, the month, the year, when I never have to hear that fucker's name.
What's amazing is that you can ask, "Is he dead yet?" and virtually everybody knows who you're talking about.

@BlairMountainWarrior @Remittancegirl It's the number one question I'd like to hear answered in the affirmative.

@Remittancegirl
With national newsrooms shipping the same crap on the daily, local news is the only thing left I don't feel icky consuming. It helps to tune that in and tune out the propaganda factory. -

@elronxenu @BlairMountainWarrior I wake up every morning asking it.

@Remittancegirl 3 more years of his shit. Nationwide general strike should have happened ages ago.
I'm tired, boss.

@Remittancegirl every what day? Ha! Ha! Ha! Honey, I know what you said. I'm just funnin'.

This hits especially hard for me. I got told I was being laid off in a bloodbath of an acquisition on a Monday back in 2016. Tuesday was the election. That also ended my time in Boston.
It was a very sharp discontinuity that destroyed the entire life I'd built up to that point. I landed on my feet, but it's different. Possibilities and aspirations faded out, and I know at this point they're never coming back.
I feel like I've been living in a campsite amidst ruins ever since.
@emc2 i am so very sorry life went skew whiff for you. Your description of living in a campsite amidst ruins is a powerful one. It must resonate with many, if not materially, then emotionally.
