Yesterday someone commented on how the ballast in the little #modelrailroad diorama I posted was "too clean" and "too tidy".

I'll go and find them a contact for whoever is building this 1:1 scale railroad in Aarhus

@Pepijn Lovely comment too. I'd be tempted to just reply 'spurgt' to them, but not sure how to translate the depth of this comment to English.

@EvilCartyen I remember discussing that word in Danish class. The conclusion was that it's not translatable into one English word.
As this was the second time in a week they left this type of comment I just blocked them btw. Figured then neither of us has to bother with the other person's existence

They're somewhere near place 999 in your interaction hierarchy (https://mstdn.dk/@EvilCartyen/115706165145267738). -

@EvilCartyen @Pepijn In those circumstances I like to employ the allmighty "meh"

@PalmAndNeedle @Pepijn not enough 'fuck you though' in a meh compared to 'spurgt', I feel.

@EvilCartyen I think it requires a bit of passive aggressive energy as well? A bit of "you COULD have just decided to not comment."

"Spurgt" is right on the divide between passive aggressive and aggressive aggressive, imo.

@EvilCartyen @Pepijn @PalmAndNeedle I've never heard "spurgt" used like that. Is it regional?
So it's something like "Who asked you?" or "No one asked for your opinion", then ?

@stveje @Pepijn @PalmAndNeedle
It's pretty recent usage, within the last 5 years. Don't think it's regional, probably just teenagers being teenagers and it's now spread more widely.
It's a short form of 'Hvem har spurgt dig?' which manages to be even more antagonistic. I am quite fond if it, I use it when people comment on other people's bodies or clothes or... stuff no one asked them to weigh in on.
