We are so lucky that now when we need to move away from American digital monopoly and control, that we have a wide range of very mature software to choose from across a lot of categories. That just makes it so strange that it's so difficult to actually get moving.

We don't have to rebuild everything from the ground up. Sure, we definitely want to invest in improving what's already there. Fund further development, add features that better suit our specific requirements. But we are far away from having to rebuild the entire tech stack from the ground up. It's a relatively cheap exercise, all things considered, and yet moving to something that gives EU digital independence is glacial.

We have an amazing foundation, and that's super fortunate. We just have to stop being complacent and make the final investment.

@Gjoel Yep! These wannabe monopolies know how to deliver everything on a silver platter and they’re great at knowing exactly what people need (or otherwise they just create an artificial demand for it).

It’s funny/sad to think about how our quest for simplicity and easily comprehensible solutions ultimately became a prison. But it did because too few lawmakers care about interoperability (between services) and open standards.
