New blog-post: "When online commenters 'detect' my art as AI"

@davidrevoy Obviously I'm not going to make demands.
And I will support you in any decisions you make. I like your art because it comes from you, not because it looks a certain way (and definitely take some time off!)But I think it's more important to live authentically, than to worry about if other people think you're "doing it right". I know that's different when you're worried about a career, but industry peeps have a different perspective from randos who might just want to shitstir.
@ToonLink Thank you for your wise word; Yes, 'authentic' will be my compass, this one resonates strongly.

@davidrevoy it's almost like AI was trained on art by real people or something!!!

@davidrevoy the "nothing is real" crowd is the worst. I have been working with my teenage daughter on this. She's very quick to say something feels like AI without any evidence. We've had several conversations about how dangerous that is in multiple ways.

@davidrevoy I kinda stopped sharing my art on Meta platforms. The communities there are even more toxic than in X in my opinion. Way more superficial and a lot more annoying
I stick to X because I have a solid base of clients from there but I would definitely like to focus only on Mastodon and the fediverse. (1/2)
Also, for what is worth, allow me to say that your art has inspired me a lot both to improve mine as well as to embrace a similar path as yours in open source.
Please don’t get discouraged by those comments and keep rocking! One of the best things of Wednesdays for me is to find a new comic of yours being published

Amazing setup, I had no idea there were companies like that. Do they handle boosting things? like followers count? comments, engagement? in exchange of money? It looks like each operator control at least 50 devices. -

@davidrevoy it looks like two of those comments (4th and last ones on the left column) were acknowledging that AI is stealing from you, not saying that you used AI.

@davidrevoy I'm a writer. The same thing happens to me but with words.
I'm at a point where I almost don't want to write anymore, let alone publish it. It has always been my passion and seriously helped me work through trauma. And now it's all but gone, at least the creative work. Not once in my life have I used generative AI and it still has a massive impact on me.Marcus Olang' wrote a good piece about it.
