Have I told you about the onions from my garden yet?
This is the biggest one I harvested this year: 13.6 cm in diameter and the weight is 1,056 grams. Not too bad...

@meganL I've read that years ago and got a few selected EXHIBITION seeds from the UK for my first try.
But the onion shown is from regular AILSA CRAIG seeds, good enough for the garden, but not for garden show in the UK.
Thanks! -

Thanks!@Hagukh Well, enjoy that well-earned onion. I'm a big fan of French onion soup and I know what I'd be doing with it....soouuuuuup!

@meganL There are more of this, not as big but enough for a French onion soup.

@NatureMC It's an AILSA CRAIG onion, a sweet one.
I started with seeds indoors in January, so there was enough time to grow to this size. -

Remind me again, why do recipes list things like onions and carrots as a number and not how many gram?I had the reverse the other day, I bought 1 kg carrots. My bolognese recipe says two carrots, but these carrots are maybe a quarter of the size of the ones I used last time.
Took me several attempts with Google before I found a recipe that said 50 gram. I guess 1 kg carrots was a bit much, that's enough for 20 days in a row. Or almost half a year if I eat bolognese once per week.
But then I suspect my previous attempts haf way too much carrot.
