    After years of spreading fear uncertainty and doubt about Electric Vehicles the media are having to walk back those lies one by one. The latest subject is batteries: Remember how the media seeded and constantly reinforced the lie that your EV’s battery would need to be expensively replaced after 2-3 years? Now that lie is untenable the only option is to splash the new story that they’re not wearing out. But notice the framing: Their part in the belief is absent. It’s just a huge surprise.

      @christineburns yep, ours has 166K miles on it, still within a couple of miles of original range.

          @christineburns

          Back when the automobile was coming in to take the place of horses, the people who made a living at cleaning up horse shit were mighty mad too.

              @christineburns unlike other lie this one at least had a legitimate base (that battery go bad after some time), but automaker could have released their estimation of replacement time... witch they not all have done sadly.

                  @christineburns

                  My 8 year old Leaf charges to 150-160 miles, and that's real range.

                    @christineburns Used Chevy Bolts are under $10k on Edmunds right now. After 8-9 years and 100k miles, they can still go well over 200 miles on a single charge. In another 2-3 years they will sell for $5k, and will still be able to go 200+ miles, at which point I think the market for used gas cars will just collapse.

                      @christineburns I think they've moved on to "they catch fire and so do solar panels"

                        @afewbugs @christineburns Yeah, there have been the occasional reports on 'electric bus fires' in the UK, despite the fact that diesel bus fires are 8 times more common, but only reported as 'bus fires'.
