I'm on year 3 of trying to convince the UK gov to use Mastodon.. instead ministers are busy tweeting about Elon on Elon's platform.

@GossiTheDog
Indeed. And Zack Polanski has a bridged cross posting bot on here that people insist on replying to. Get the fuck off X. -

@GossiTheDog it'd be in their interest to do it anyway given they can add their shitty id verification to their own mastodon instance

@GossiTheDog I'm not surprised surprised; but this seems like a "don't have to go full Marshall McLuhan to realize that you will lose every Elon fight you pick on twitter" situation.
Do they have some sort of coherent answer for why they don't; or just sort of a vague sense that proximity to attention is somehow worth the cost?

@GossiTheDog good luck with that - I fear the UK government sees sucking up to Musk is sucking up to the US regime

@GossiTheDog is this possibly the entire reason he bought Twitter? For the ability to say whatever he wants on a massive scale?

@GossiTheDog good to know your politicians are as stupid as ours are.

@sawaba @GossiTheDog Musk bought Twitter out of rage against the so-called "woke virus". https://www.erininthemorning.com/p/elon-musk-confirms-he-bought-twitter

@GossiTheDog You might begin by suggesting french RAP associations 3 simple measures toward a cleaner use of commercial social media. Instead of 'do not use', ok, use them if you need, but:
1.- Do not promote them (remove their logos from your communications).
2.- Do not provide them with exclusive content (put YOUR content under YOUR domain).
3.- Do not ever pay them to publish anything.In my exerience, found them more effective and eye-opening than just 'do not use'
