#Norway is implementing a ban on generative AI for students under 13 in primary school starting this September. The policy is meant to prioritize fundamental literacy and numeracy skills, which have recently declined. The government warns that young students lack the critical reflection needed for #AI use, risking developmental learning stages. Older students may use AI cautiously, provided teachers receive appropriate training.

@oatmeal In China, children have from the 1. Class the compulsory subject AI. Who will be economically successful? Rhetorical question. OK, Norway has all the oil and gas. Okay, okay.

@realflatman I don’t think they’re saying don’t use ai. They’re saying their children must develop skills to be able to use it and not be dependent on it or worse, not be able to judge for themselves when the plausible garbage they produce is wrong. And note it says generative ai.
