@fasterandworse unless you get a repeated and enthusiastic no, you're good to go! Also, "I can't find where they've moved the setting this time" is a binding and irrevocable endorsement of your corporate policies.
@womble @fasterandworse I would be genuinely interested to see the percentage of people who have never opened the settings in Firefox. I imagine it's probably in the high 90s.

> ...the AI kill switch ... has been flipped by just 1% of Firefox users to turn off AI completely. And it's being partially used by just 3% to turn off some AI features in the browser.
THAT'S BECAUSE IT IS OPT-OUT!

@fasterandworse
I would assume that there is also a fair bit of overlap between people who turn off slop machines but also telemetry (especially when dealing witha well-known bad actor) -

@fasterandworse No mention that I could see of users who've switched to e.g. Waterfox, either.

@fasterandworse I didn't hit the AI kill switch on my Firefox because I kill switched the whole ass browser into something else. Where is that data from how many users they're losing, huh? -

@fasterandworse To all the homies who predicted that Mozilla was gonna use the kill-switch to gin up stats about how popular their AI features are…pat yourselves on the back.

"The AI kill switch ... has been flipped by just 1% of Firefox users to turn off AI completely."
that's because they are conflating generative AI chatbots (which nobody wants) with translation software and not counting people who left the translation software on to support their claim that people want generative chatbots.
I said this was a con when they did it. Well, what do you know, it's a con.

@fasterandworse also, the people who are more educated on technology and despise this abusive & offensive tech more will generally have telemetry disabled
-
@fasterandworse a lot of people who would have used it also just ditched firefox entirely because of this

@fasterandworse also lot of the people opting out probably already opted out of telemetry (I did the day they pushed that crap about Mr Robot, years ago)
