It is deeply funny to me that Mastodon is a place where AI bros cry because they can't get any traction, but a single picture of moss can give anyone, no matter their other content or follower count, positive feedback for the rest of time.

@paparatti Due to a conversation I had the other day, I feel compelled to share a random photo (not mine) of Moss, Norway
@freya yet another perfect example of moss! Thank you!

@Rheall all hail the creator!!!
🥳
@paparatti Aaaaaah, naw, all the credit should go to the folks who post there and share all the wonderful moss with us!
(But thank you! I appreciate it.

Try it. Post a picture of moss. See what happens.

@jef @paparatti Thanks! This reminded me of the round patch of orange lichen at the bottom of a wall I had to photograph last week during a trip to Belgium. And the moss strip just over the waterline in the canals of Brugge! Is there some subtle fedi influence going on? I can not remember taking any #lichensubscribe or #Mosstodon pictures before.

Kate Moss in 2025, aged 51.
We're all getting older and that's nothing to be ashamed of. -
Beautiful patterns!

@paparatti I mean... Imagine moss. Moss is cool (literally) -
@stacey_campbell @paparatti add lichen and a cat and we can bring down the whole Fediverse.

@paparatti It's the way the internet should be.

@paparatti are you trying to say that what people like in these pictures is the moss?

@paparatti Sadly I don't have any moss around me to take photos of, but I find that posting silly photos of my dog has a similar effect.
-
@paparatti Don't jinx it, they'll just spam AI-generated slop images of moss until people give up on following mosstodon
@skyfaller @paparatti I have some hope that our federated moderation practices would make something like that a lot harder to pull off than on a centralized platform.

@paparatti …giving rise to the first mosfluencers.
