    @maccruiskeen @StCecile @texttheater But that's... it's right up there in the table-span example?

      @texttheater ok. It is elegant. BUT WHAT IS IT FOR? Without a name for the recipe, you’ve got nothing.

        @maccruiskeen @StCecile @texttheater I admit I have little knowledge of human cookery. My dining plan is "spread hyphae into wood, digest".

              @texttheater How do you handle stuff where you have split lines ? (E.g separate whites from yolks)
              (I don’t think every recipes can be laid out in such a nice tree).

              @Sobex @texttheater agree entirely, this contrived example solves the problem for simple recipes, which aren’t really a problem anyway, and would become a mess for more complicated recipes.

                    @Sobex @texttheater I guess chronologically they _are_ DAGs, because we don’t require time machines when cooking, but yes loops are very common. “My sauce is too thick!” “Sorry, you have to move to column 4 now.”

                        @texttheater does this recipe style have a name? This could save hundreds of kilometres of repeatedly scrolling up and down horrendous recipe sites.

                            @pinsk @texttheater That was my best guess too? But that’s a ton of sugar, an extra egg and scant flour. ???

                                    Excuse me, but a recipe is 3,000 words of turgid nostalgia interspersed with pop-up ads and increasingly shrill demands for your email address, whereas this appears to be a clear and concise set of procedural instructions for making brownies.

                                      It's a cursed recipe, because it uses Hershey's cocoa!
                                      Maybe that's why it was ignored?

                                      Isn't there a decent cocoa powder in the USA, or is Hershey's cocoa nothing like their stupid chocolate recipe? The butyric acid in Hershey's chocolate makes it disgusting. Vomit flavour.
                                      I can't understand why their products are now sold in in recent years in Ireland. Are shops bribed to stock them?
                                      Cadburys has gone poor since US takeover.

                                        Actually US tourists /seem/ rarer than years ago, but I've not seen figures.
                                        European & African refugees wouldn't want Hershey. I believe there are US refugees, but they are not eligible for asylum (yet!), so can only settle if they have a sufficiently close ancestor.
