              Toddler and I are visiting a bunch of towns by train today. So you don't have to.

              We just visited Padborg. And seriously, unless you're living there: you don't have to.

              Now in Tinglev. It's nice. Good library. Little pond with fishes. There's a bunch of not-that-old-yet-old trains parked on a siding.

              Next is Rødekro

                @Pepijn

                My grandma lived in Padborg before she passed, I remember the local bookstore with fondness. I bought MTG cards there and also the old game 'Scorched Earth' on a floppy disk 😄 Apart from that we had lovely cream cakes when we visited, but I am pretty sure the baker doesn't exist anymore.

                Tinglev always seemed less welcoming to me, more dead, but I never visited by train, so... I still come by there quite often (by car) going to a cottage my mum owns in the woods. There's shopping, which is nice, and 2 decent second hand stores.

                  @Pepijn last weekend at the "togfitness" event of the jernbanemuseum where they pulled out everything from their storage. among the many actually really old trains, there was one of those heavily graffiti'ed ic4.

                    @CarstenBoll Sounds nice!

                    Maybe it's a first impressions thing. Arriving by train in Tinglev you are dropped right into the -veeeeery sleepy- centre of the village. There's also some friendly paths around town. And that's kinda nice.

                    In Padborg the arrival is all industrial and rather bleak.

                      @Pepijn We're off on an interrail trip in a few weeks bound for the Netherlands and France (hoping for some cycling in Cévennes) where our plan is to take the train to Padborg then cycle to Flensburg where we'll stay the night.

                      Probably won't see much of the former, though.

                        @Pepijn Probably checks out, I don't tend to hang around much in either town given that we can go to the woods 🙂

                          Rødekro now. No elevator to get off the platform so I dragged the stroller down the stairs. Very un-Danish as dragging strollers up and down stairs is usually something reserved for trains here.

                          The #library is honestly impressive for a smaller town. A very elegant, light and spacious building. The inside colour scheme is very deliberate. Outside is nice as well.

                          It's one of the better libraries toddler and I have visited (and we have visited a great many of them the past years).
