We are live, and ready to launch!

Introducing: floor.tips
We are a group of Copenhagen-based promoters, event-makers and artists, that wish to regain control of how we advertise our events and reach our communities. We bring different music to our events - from techno to bass, from trance to experimental and much more - but we share a need to break free from tech-giants and to find alternative ways to promote our events.
Either deep down or out in the open, we have known for a long time that Facebook and Instagram were rotten. We have always known the powers behind them are not our allies and are not aligned with our values, and yet, over time, our party promoting moved almost entirely to these platforms.
In recent months, it has been made clear for everyone that these platforms are not neutral, apolitical tools, but they are active weapons in the hands of fascist politicians and their billionaire friends. We can no longer keep all of our event-planning on Meta, while its platforms are complicit in censoring, mobilizing against and threatening the actual physical existence of the very communities that we emerge from and that we wish to bring to our events. Too often we hear of friends that leave Meta with loud public announcements, only to be back a few months later as they missed out on events. As party promoters, we don't want to be responsible for keeping people on these platforms and we acknowledge the power of our events to create network effect and brand awareness. It is time to leave, one event at a time. It is time to capture that power for a democratically-aligned platform.
Moving away from Meta is a scary thing if your events, your economy and your social life are dependent from it. We do not believe that it is possible for everyone to say "I'm done", delete their profiles and move their promoting elsewhere. Many of us are not ready to do it either. But we believe in the need to create an alternative. We need to make it possible for those in our communities that "take the leap" to "stay in the loop". And we need to tip the balance, one event at a time, until we rebuild our communities and our follower-base outside of Meta.
Leave, where?
Fortunately, an alternative is already out there. The Fediverse is a fast-growing universe of interconnected but decentralised social media, that has the potential to keep the good of social media while leaving its worst sides behind. Decentralisation means that the Fediverse cannot be bought by one billionaire or be shadow-banned by the next tech-bro. Those who run the server set the rules and moderate the content, and if you want to move to another server, you can always do so. Within this universe of decentralised and federated social media, Mobilizon is an event-first platform, that delivers what we as promoters would miss, if we were to drop Facebook events. For this reason, we have decided to create and run a Copenhagen-centered Mobilizon server for parties.
How does it work?
For the general user, our Mobilizon server functions like a calendar page, alot like Dukop.dk already delivers political events. The user visits the homepage, can see the list of events and can filter them by some simple functions.
For the user who joined the Fediverse and has a profile on social media like Mastodon or Pixelfed, our Mobilizon server grants an integration that you know from Meta. If you follow a specific user on Mobilizon, you get new events, event updates and announcements delivered directly in your home feed on Pixelfed or Mastodon. For the promoter, our Mobilizon server allows you to create an event and have it online. You can share the link with your community through your usual channels (Signal, mail, QR-codes on posters...), and if your community follows you, they see you as they are used to: in their feed. The server is run by the community itself, and it is not-for-profit.
How can it take off?
We believe that in getting together and talking about how to slowly move away from Meta, we as party promoters and event-makers can strengthen each other, can give each other more reach and can support each other, so that we all benefit from this move. For this to work, we need as many promoters, crews, venues and artists as possible on board. We need to remind each other to create every event (also) on the Mobilizon server and to post updates. We need to share the link with our communities, so they also learn that they don't need to open Facebook to find the next dance, and they can come to a nicer place, without the immense level of distraction and addiction of the Meta experience.
Join us in creating the next generation of social media: utilitarian, practical, non-addictive.
Join us for two workshops and a party in the coming weeks, and help us kickstart floor.tips in the best of manners!

@floortips So cool! This is the path out I want to see. As soon as a few important event makers exclusively promote a few special things on here, it will send the message that this is a place to stay in the loop.
